The temperature has dropped drastically tonight. I think it is
somewhere in the low 40’s if not the high 30’s. If I remember
correctly. The freezing point is about 32 degrees fahrenheit.
We are making sure everyone has their faucets in their room
dripping. And we covered the outside faucets in the back
of the motel with whatever we could. There are two faucets.
We are extremely lucky to have running water.
I would hate for the pipes to burst just because someone
didn’t turn their faucet to dripping.
We are lucky to have good shelter. And wonderful land
to have worked with this summer. We are as prepared as
we can be at this point for winter.
But, it’s still scary. The winter. And where we are…it will
snow, for sure.
A couple of the men will leave in a few days to go get some
supplies. They will be gone for at least a week.
Trina and I are making a list of everything we can think of
that we need that they’ll be able to carry back.
Right now, the only working vehicle we have is a scooter.
Robert’s built a makeshit trailer/wagon to attach to it.
So they’ll be able to get quite a bit and bring it back to us.
This is my family now. Even Tevyn who doesn’t speak
to me.
It will be hard to see anyone go for supplies. They will
be risking their lives for us all.
I hope they will come back in one piece. And I hope
we will still be here for them to come back to.
