There is a new animal getting to the chickens.
\nInstead of a fox it’s a dog.<\/p>\n
Robert wants to try to catch it and teach it to trust us.
\nBut, I am voting “no.” We’ve seen the dog around
\noutside the perimeter. We have no idea how it’s
\ngetting in but it surely has. We know because Robert
\ncaught him outside the back fence with a chicken
\nin its mouth.<\/p>\n
He says the dog is showing signs of “playfulness.”
\nWhich I don’t trust.<\/p>\n
He said that when he went near the fence the dog
\nwas darting from side to side like a dog with a
\nsqueaky toy would do in order to keep it from you
\nbut in a playful way.<\/p>\n
I think the dog looks mangy.<\/p>\n
I don’t know. We all have to vote “yes” in order for
\nany new people or new animals to be allowed
\ninto our little area.<\/p>\n
Tevyn, lovely as he is (yes that’s sarcasm)
\nactually addressed me today when the group was
\ndiscussing this and what he said made it incredibly
\ndifficult to continue to “kill him with kindness.”<\/p>\n
He looked straight at me and said, “where would
\nYOU be if we hadn’t all voted, ‘yes?’ ”<\/p>\n
I could feel my face burning. I’m usually so composed
\nand ready with a comeback. That is what a witty
\njournalist should be able to do on the spot. Think of
\nsomething immediately to ask.<\/p>\n
And yet. I didn’t. I just sat there burning up.
\nIt wasn’t until later in the day that I thought of the
\nfact that if everyone has to vote “yes” then that
\nmeans Tevyn also voted for me to stay when I
\nshowed up running from that terrible fake military
\ngroup.<\/p>\n
He voted me to stay. Was it because his hand was
\nforced? Was it because he was being kind, taking
\nme in? What IS his problem?<\/p>\n
Well. I’m still here and I’m not going anywhere.
\nEveryone else seems to have bonded with me
\nand I, them.<\/p>\n
So. There’s that.<\/p>\n
The guys are packed. It rained today. So we
\nurged them to wait one more day to leave for
\nsupplies.<\/p>\n
I begged them to take me along. I need out
\nof here. All this domesticity is driving me crazy.<\/p>\n
I need a story. I need to see what’s out there.
\nThey said, “no.” But then I was told later they
\nwere thinking about it.<\/p>\n
We’ll see, I suppose.<\/p>\n
