Yesterday, unfortunately was too busy to write.
\nEven for an experienced reporter, like myself, there
\nis just no way to convey the abundance of zombie
\ncarcasses and the stench.<\/p>\n
The moat is practically overflowing. And this
\nis only a small percentage of the swarm that
\nscuttled through here.<\/p>\n
We spent the entire day yesterday dealing with
\nthis. And there are more days to come.<\/p>\n
Burning them is unbelievably tedious and
\nhorrifying even after all this time. It’s so hard
\nto grasp that this is our life now. That this
\nis the new “norm.”<\/p>\n
Struggling to survive. Burning the undead
\nso they are truly “dead” to the world.<\/p>\n
Have their spirits\/souls already left them?
\nOr did they die with their physical bodies,
\nforever trapped in limbo?<\/p>\n
Or once their physical bodies are burned
\nand “killed” for good, do their souls finally
\nget to escape limbo and go to the place they
\nwere intended?<\/p>\n
These are the things I think about as I hold
\nmy shirt over my face and watch them burning.
\nSeeming to come alive again before truly dying
\nas the fire moves them around.<\/p>\n
I know they are not coming alive again.
\nMy brain tells me that it’s the wind and the
\nflames moving them.<\/p>\n
But my spirit allows me to believe it is their
\nsouls being released to go to some sort of
\npeace that makes them move around within
\nthe flames.<\/p>\n
We are still here. But these burned ones?
\nThey are not. They are not here anymore.
\nIn any way, shape, or form. Unless you count
\ntheir ashes that will become part of the earth
\nonce again.<\/p>\n
